Skeleton Race Circuits
Local Races
Both Calgary and Whistler host local races to expose new skeleton athletes to race preparation and processes, while allowing more experienced sliders to hone their competitive skills. Keep your eye on the Calendar of Events to find out when the next races are.
Provincial and National Championships
Each year athletes have the opportunity to rank themselves both provincially and nationally during championship races. The Alberta Skeleton Association hosts a Provincial Championship race in Calgary, while BCBSA runs them in Whistler. Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton hosts the National Championship competition, held either in Calgary or in Whistler, where both new recruits and Olympic Champions alike are pitted against each other for a national title.
America's Cup Circuit
The America's Cup Circuit is a series of races for new and developing sliders held each year on the four North American tracks. The circuit consists of two races each at Lake Placid, N.Y, Park City, UT, Whistler or Calgary. Whistler will be added to the circuit in this coming 2012-2013 season. The America's Cup team, currently administrated by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton, comprises athletes who are members of the National Development Team and are chosen each season through a combination of testing camps, push competitions and selection races.
The America's Cup team consists of four men and four women.
Europa Cup Circuit
The Europa Cup Circuit is a series of races for solid development athletes looking to expose themselves to more tracks and to face off against the tough up-and-coming European sliders. Eight races are held each season on a selection of European tracks in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The Europa Cup team, administrated by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton, comprises athletes who are members of the National Development Team and are chosen each season through a combination of testing camps, push competitions and selection races.
The Europa Cup team consists of two men and two women.
Intercontinental Cup Circuit
The Intercontinental Cup Circuit was added during the 2007-08 season as a stepping stone for highly skilled development athletes who aren't quite ready to compete at the highest level. It is series of races for solid development athletes looking to expose themselves to Moving from the geographically centered America's/Europa Cup circuits, the Intercontinental Cup circuit offers eight races, held each season on a selection of tracks on both continents. The Intercontinental Cup team, administrated by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton, comprises athletes who are members of the National Team and are chosen each season through a combination of testing camps, push competitions and selection races.

World Cup Circuit
The World Cup Circuit is where you find the top international sliders, including many who have attended Olympic Games, won Olympic medals, or are on their way. Eight races are held each season on a selection of 14 tracks world wide, and athletes come from all over the world to compete. The season culminates with a multi-day World Championship series, or, every four years, with the Olympic Games. The World Cup team, administrated by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton, comprises athletes who are members of the National Team and are chosen each season through a combination of testing camps, push competitions and selection races.
